Wassily Kandinsky

Kandinsky was one of the pioneers of abstract art, producing some of the first fully non-representational paintings around 1911. Born in Moscow, he worked in Munich, where he co-founded the Expressionist group Der Blaue Reiter, and later taught at the Bauhaus alongside Paul Klee.
